Conor’s Story
"My reason is simple: To help raise funds to put an end to Cancer. Running a marathon is hard, but it's nothing compared to what it takes to fight cancer."
I am beyond excited to be running this year's NYC marathon with SoulCycle and Fred's Team! I am running for my mother and for anyone who has ever been afflicted with cancer. At this point almost everyone has a family member, friend or loved one who has/had cancer and that is why I am running. I am running to raise money to help put an end to cancer. All the doctors and staff over at [Memorial Sloan Kettering] are truly doing the hard work, I'm just running.
For those who don't know, my mother was diagnosed with liver cancer in May of 2021 (just months before she was to become a grandmother for the first time). It was the phone call I never wanted to receive...but without hesitation my mom went right to work doing everything she could to get to a place where she could eventually and successfully receive a liver transplant with my sister being the living donor. The process was daunting but at no point did my mom (or my sister) even waver. They put in so much work to get to the finish line! I can report that they are both doing wonderfully and will hopefully be out on the streets of NYC cheering for me on November 3rd!
I say all that because my reason is simple. To help raise funds to put an end to Cancer. The training is hard, running a marathon is hard, but it's nothing compared to what it takes to fight cancer. So I'll lace up and take to the streets of NYC to show up for those you can't run, for those who've lost the battle and those who are currently fighting cancer.

"In 2022 my very best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. When I saw the marathon last year, I thought, ‘I want to run for a lymphoma charity.;"
In 2022, my very best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. This rocked me to my core. She immediately started treatment at [Memorial Sloan Kettering] She was on a very aggressive protocol for 6 months. I attended every appointment and every chemo session (missing only one due to travel but FaceTiming in) and continued to go with her to every 6-month scan. She is in remission now, but I consider myself her person, so I am with her every step of the way. When I saw the marathon last year, I thought, I want to run for a lymphoma charity. This feels like it's meant to be. Being able to run for Fred's team with [Memorial Sloan Kettering] and getting to choose lymphoma for my best friend.

"My first experience with cancer was [when my grandpa] was diagnosed with lung cancer…I would be elated to run in his honor for my dad, grandma, and all my aunts and uncles."
My first experience with cancer was when I was 8 years old, visiting my grandpa when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He worked his whole life in the mill in my little small town, and his death ultimately ended up being due to his work environment. I remember him by his love of card games, especially cribbage and Up & Back, two games I still play to this day. He loved shooting oysters and my grandma's homemade buttermilk pancakes. He passed away on his 80th birthday surrounded by his 12 children and my grandma Flo. I would be elated to run in his honor for my dad, grandma, and all my aunts and uncles.

"I have been affected by cancer in my family and want to raise awareness for all those that are suffering, and those affected by cancer."
I am on a mission to complete the top 7 marathons, but I also have been affected by cancer in my family and want to raise awareness for all those that are suffering and those affected by cancer. My goal would be to run in 3 hours, 15 minutes—that would be epic.
